PREAMBLE

We the Students of the Annandale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC), hereby renew The Northern Virginia Community College Coding Club (NV4C). In order to maintain active status, the organization agrees to conduct our organization in a manner which adheres to and upholds the rules and regulations, including financial procedures, of Northern Virginia Community College – Annandale Campus, which pertains to all student clubs and organizations. We acknowledge that failure to do so may result in warnings or Loss of Recognition as outlined in the Student Organization Handbook.

ARTICLE I NAME

The name of this organization will be The Northern Virginia Community College Coding Club.

ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP

Section 1: All registered NVCC students with Annandale as their primary campus shall be eligible for voting membership in the NV4C at the Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

Section 2: Voting members in addition to section 1, shall be designated as those persons who have: Attended three meetings in an academic semester or Have participated in the organization virtually by reviewing minutes and contributing information or Have participated in hosting club events Section 3 Honorary (non-voting) membership privileges can be given to NVCC faculty staff or alumni at the discretion of the executive board. This may include adding the honorary members to list serves etc. but cannot include using Club Funds to pay for travel or other student designated privileges.

ARTICLE III OFFICERS

Section 1: The officers of NV4C shall be:

a. The President shall be the NV4C representative at all functions requiring representation; preside over Executive Board and General meetings; inform general body members of all decisions reached by the Executive Board; able to establish committees for events set by the Executive Board; empowered to call Executive Board meetings; and cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie.

b. The Vice President shall be: The next officer in command and will execute duties and attend to the functions of the President when the President is unavailable.

c. Secretary shall be: The officer responsible for recording the minutes of all meetings and submitting them to Student Life within three business days; coordinating all correspondence and communications; and coordinating all promotions and publicity and sending copies to Student Life unless otherwise delegated.

d. Treasurer shall be: In charge of the finances of the NV4C; deposit all monies collected and withdraw monies needed by NV4C (The Club Advisor and the President or Secretary’s signature is needed, along with the Treasurer's to withdraw money); process all invoices when presented after approval by the President or in some cases with a one-third majority of the Executive Council; and submit a financial report monthly to Student Life and at a general body meeting.

e. Faculty/Staff Advisor shall be: The Advisor must be a full-time faculty or staff of Northern Virginia Community College. Advisors will attend a minimum of one meeting per month and will be reasonably available to sign financial requests and advise the organization as they plan events, etc. Section 2 All voting members of the organization, shall be students and shall be in good academic standing in order to be eligible to hold office. Good academic standing is defined as:

  1. Maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0) for two consecutive academic semesters;
  2. Be enrolled in and regularly attend at least six (6) credit hours per semester during their term (excluding the summer semester);
  3. Not be on academic probation or warning; and
  4. Be in good judicial and financial standing with NVCC.

All officers of the organization, shall comply with the above-stated member standards as well as hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25.

Section 3: The term of office for the officers shall begin in the Fall Semester of the regular academic year and conclude in the Spring Semester of the following year. Each officer is elected to serve a one (1) year term. No elected officers shall serve more than two (2) years in the same position.
