As a programmer, high-quality internships are critical in order to get a job. A degree alone is not enough. Please think hard about the technologies you want to learn and try to set aside time every week to study them.
The Road Map:
It is recommended to start with the basics and build your way up. Here are some tips:
- Focus on only ONE language or technology at a time
- If you are a beginner, start with Java. You will need it for your CS classes over the next 4 years.
- Build outwards from Java.
- Identify what you want to learn next. Java Script or Python are highly recommended.
- Build a portfolio of project.
- Building real projects is the quickest way to learn and show you are knowledgeable.
- Learn complimentary technologies
- For example, after learning Java Script you should learn HTML, CSS, and then React
- Remember: Practice often and only focus on ONE technology at a time.
